The Good Samaritan Clinic is a free medical and dental clinic dedicated to serving the homeless of Polk County. Started in 1992, it was the first free clinic in Central Florida to exclusively work with homeless men and women.
Our clinic staff includes a Nurse Practitioner, Registered Nurse, and a Dental Hygienist. We also have several volunteer Physicians, Nurses, and Dentists that volunteer their professional services to our clinic and clients.
We function as a primary care facility, providing diagnosis and treatment of a variety of illnesses and medical conditions. Diagnostic techniques include interviewing the patient to collect information on the present symptoms, medical history (when available) and other health details, followed by a physical examination.·We perform basic medical testing and counsel and educate patients on safe health behaviors, self-care skills and treatment options, and provide screening tests and immunizations. Our Clinic staff, with the participation of the patient, formulates a plan including (if appropriate) components of further testing, specialist referral, medication, therapy, diet or life-style changes, patient education, and follow up results of treatment.
